If, a few minutes later, you are lucky enough to get a message telling you that the problem has been corrected, you usually have a patch to thank for the repair. Then there are the gaming and other miscellaneous software that come with the patches for anticipated problems already included in their programs. So, if something goes wrong with the software, it will be fixed immediately - internally. Plus, many times the gaming or software manufacturer will also include any new "patch" updates in your purchase agreement - and these are usually sent to you via the internet or your email account. Moreover, it it usually possible for a person to go online and find updates and "bug" patches available as free downloads - right from the manufacturer's website. But be aware that there is a danger in just "hitting the sites and downloading" without knowing what you are doing. If you just do this haphazardly, and you are uncertain of what the correct version of the software is for your system, you could inadvertently damage your system in some way.

The best part about software patch management is that it is done almost completely without your knowledge, and without interfering with an employees workload. Just like with many updates, in order for it to take effect occasionally the computer may have to be turned off and then on again. Of course, the system would never automatically turn itself off without some sort of warning. That would partially defeat the purpose of the software.
